Laurel Masse, founding member of Manhattan Transfer, will follow her acclaimed series of New Year's shows at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 - http://www.metropolitanroom.com/ ) with a return to the club for three shows in April, on Tuesdays the 3rd, 10th and 17th, all shows at 9:30 pm. Joining her will be pianist and musical collaborator Tex Arnold, and Jon Burr on bass. Tuesday night at the Metropolitan Room is becoming a popular destination for jazz lovers. Masse's 9:30 pm shows follow venerable singer Annie Ross' regular 7:00 pm Tuesday night set.
Songs in Masse's show are drawn from a variety of sources, reflecting her eclectic musical tastes and her unique ability to make any song her own. Joni Mitchell, Dave Brubeck, Carol Hall, and Lerner and Lowe are just a few of the composers whose work is included in the evening. While some of the material can be found on her previously released CDs Alone Together, Easy Living, Again, and Feather and Bone, many of the tunes will offer a sneak peek at her fifth solo CD currently in the works.
